Basic setup
Setting up PolarUs to sync your health data on Android
Make sure you have the ‘Google Fit’ App (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.fitness) installed on your phone.
When setting up the ‘Google Fit’ App be sure to tap ‘Turn On’ when prompted to ‘Track your activities’. Also ‘Allow Fit to access your physical activity’.
If you have already installed ‘Google Fit’, open the settings by tapping on the profile icon in the bottom right corner. Then tap the gear icon located at the top right of the screen. Scroll down to ‘Track your activities’ and make sure the toggle switch is turned on.
Sleep As Android
Make sure you have the ‘Sleep As Android’ App (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.sleep) installed on your phone.
Syncing Sleep Data with Google Fit
- Open ‘Sleep as Android’
- Tap the gear icon on the right side of the Search bar
- Tap ‘Services’
- If the checkbox next to ‘Google Fit’ is checked stop here.
- Tap the checkbox, read the Privacy statement and then tap ‘Agree’
- Choose your Google Account used with Google Fit
- Tap ‘Allow’
Your Data
PolarUs collects and analyzes Google Fit data following protocols approved by UBC’s Behavioural Research Ethics Board (Ethics# H21-02042). Those data will be used to improve future user-facing features in the PolarUs app; for example, by promoting beneficial app usage patterns identified in our data analyses and personalizing self-management strategies. The PolarUs app’s use and transfer of these data adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
